Happy Veteran's Day!

Happy Veteran's Day to all who serve in the armed forces both past and present. My heart goes out especially to the women and mothers! And Greg my special veteran!! He enlisted in the army at 17 and was stationed at Ft. Hood Texas for 3 years. We love all our U.S. Soldiers. We pray for the families of the soldiers that our deployed at this time.
Happy Veteran's Day!

p.s. May I suggest making Veteran's Day a paid holiday at Multicare Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2010!

New Family Pictures

We got new family pictures. The last time someone actually took a picture of our whole family was when Olivia was 3 weeks old. They were hideous and we didn't show them to anyone. My friend Melanie Willis took them. She did such an awesome job and the price is very reasonable. She has a photography website if you have any questions. So we will be sending you all Christmas cards this year. Make sure to leave a comment or email me your address so we can send a card to you.
May you have a wonderful holiday season.
Love, The Rosados

Twilight My Way!

Everyone knows I'm not the biggest Twilight fan. I think it's silly! However, my friends like Twilight, so this is my way of getting into it by donating BLOOD!! The funny thing about donating was my cousin Sandra McDonald actually was the one that did my stick.
October is the perfect month to give blood.
Just a few other facts about donating:
Only 5% of the population donates blood.
Each person that donates saves about 3 lives.
It only takes a few minutes after to replace the fluid lost.
It takes about 42 days for the human body to regenerate the red blood cells that were donated.
Every two months you can donate again!
You need to be 110 pounds to donate (they will count the clothes you're wearing though)..lets just say I barely made the weight cut-off...ha ha.
Also, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Make sure you do a monthly self exam to check for lumps or anything unusual. If you are over 40, each year you should get a mammogram.
Jenny Thompson
Sharon Johnson
Mary Lee Backstein
These are family members who have survived breast cancer. Please let me know if you are a breast cancer survivor so I can add you to my list.

To Becca Anderson

I found this pumpkin scone at a coffee shop in Tacoma. I was hoping you could recreate it for me.
It tastes like a pumpkin scone from Starbucks with maple bar frosting topped with hazelnuts. It's so good. Next time I go to work I'll buy one and bring it home to you so you can guess the recipe.

Bad News

So I of course, was so excited about my tax refund, I posted about it before I called to confirmed my refund from the IRS. Well, after waiting for 39 minutes and 47 seconds I was told the CR is not for "Credit Back" it means that there was a $2415.00 CR to my account on how much I owe.
What a Bummer!!
You would have thought that I would have noticed the CR amount was exactly how much I paid them last time. I obviously didn't notice. Greg and I planned on taking a trip to San Diego for Christmas and everything. Now that's obviously a no go.
Oh well, you needs money..I mean really!
On a positive note..I did find something that makes Olivia happy, watching Elmo in bed with chocolate cliff bars!

My love/hate relationship with the IRS

The last 3 or 4 days have been so frustrating. I don't know what is wrong with Olivia. She doesn't eat anything but cupcakes and she cries all the time. I wish I could say well maybe she's teething or sick..but sadly no none of that. She just goes through these phases where she gets upset all the time. She has been that way since birth. I do all I can to try and make her happy.. balloons, singing, homemade food, stickers..nothing works. I hate it. It makes me sad. I feel failure and resentment. I wish Olivia knew I gave up a life of comfort and riches, not to mention my looks to become a mother. Would it be too much to get a smile once during a 3day stretch??!
Now on a whole other note..I have some great news which makes all the madness ok for now. About 6 months ago we got a letter from the IRS saying our taxes were audited for 2007 and we owe $3,500.00 more dollars in taxes. Um..YIKES..Greg is in NucMed school and doesn't have a job. And I make maybe $1800.00 a month which we've been living on for the last year. I had no choice but to pay it via "Visa Card"...
Well this morning Greg opened his mail..(is it weird I don't open the letters addressed to Greg??)
And they made a mistake and are sending us a refund of $2,400.00. I am so excited!!
I don't care that Olivia got up at 4am. It's 6am and I've already gone grocery shopping and now I'm blogging. I am so excited it's not even funny!!

Cebu

We actually went on a date last night..with Olivia of course. Greg and I bring Olivia everywhere with us. So we took Olivia to Cebu. It's our favorite Asian restaurant here in Olympia. The family that runs the place is from the Philippines. Every time we go we have such a good time. The owners are so kind. It's a husband and wife that work there. Their kids were there yesterday. I'm guessing the Grandma was the one that gave us our menus. The food is all Filipino food, so homemade egg rolls and many chicken dishes. The dish I love is shrimp with coconut milk and chillies. It is so delicious. It feels good to have home made food and to give our money to a family that will probably use it for something worthwhile.

If you are looking to try a new restaurant, it's on the corner of Meridian and Martin Way. They have this purple ice cream called ube. It's made from a yam or potato I'm guessing. Olivia loves it.
